Kolob Canyon by Night

La fin de la journée arrive, et avec elle la fraîcheur du désert durant la nuit. On profite du coucher de soleil pour capturer un peu du charme de Kanarraville. Pour nous remettre de nos aventures, nous plongeons ensuite dans le jacuzzi chauffé du camping. Un autre campeur s’occupe de faire griller nos steaks, peut-être pas assez saignant à notre goût. Qui a dit que la vie de camping devait être rude ? On replie toutes nos affaires, que l’on tasse avec grand mal dans nos 3 valises. Il va falloir dire adieu à nos fidèles chaussures de randonnées, elles sont au bout du rouleau. Il est temps de se poser sous la tente, avant de bientôt repartir. Mais avec un ciel aussi clair, et une si belle nature, on en veut encore !

The end of the day is nigh, and with it the cooler weather of the desert night. We take advantage of the sunset to capture a little bit of the charm of Kanarraville. To relieve ourselves of our adventures, we dive in the camping’s hot jacuzzi. Another camper is taking care of grilling our steaks, maybe not rare enough to our taste. Who said that camping life needed to be rough? We fold up our stuff, which we fit with difficulty in our 3 luggage. We have to say goodbye to our trusty walking boots, they are at the end of the road. It is time to settle under the tent, before leaving soon. But with a sky so clear, and a nature so beautiful, we still crave for more!

Kolob Canyon : Taylor Creek

Aujourd’hui est notre dernière journée à Kolob Canyon. Pour cela, nous avons choisi un chemin dans la partie dite sauvage du parc, Zion Wilderness Area. On part y découvrir ces habitants, passés et présents, et ces paysages.

Today is our last day at Kolob Canyon. We chose a path in the so-called wild part of the park, the Zion Wilderness Area. Let’s go to discover its inhabitants, past and present, and its landscapes.

Kolob Canyon : the Kolob Arch

La boucle est bientôt bouclée, et le voyage bientôt terminé. Nous retournons pour quelques jours dans Zion NP, mais cette fois-ci à son extrémité Nord nommée Kolob Canyon. De nouveau nous voilà face à d’immenses falaises rouges striées de noir. De nouveau nous voilà sous un soleil brûlant, accablés par la chaleur. Ce qui ne nous empêche pas la nuit, d’être réveillés à 3h du matin par le froid qui s’insinue dans la tente et nos duvets. Pour profiter du soleil nous avons choisi d’aller rendre visite à Kolob Arch, une des arches naturelles les plus larges au monde comme dit le dépliant du parc.

We almost completed the loop, and the trip will be ending soon. We are going back for a few days in Zion NP, but this time at it’s North extremity, named Kolob Canyon. Once again we are facing huge red cliffs striated in black. Once again we are under a burning sun, overwhelmed by the heat. Which do not avoid at night, to be waken up by the cold slipping in the tent and our sleeping bags. To take advantage of the sun we chose to pay a visit to Kolob Arch, one of the largest natural arches in the world like said the leaflet of the park.
